Just moving into a new build home this weekend and we're setting up a retro/gaming room. I'll be putting up photo's as we make progress and would be glad of any critique or compliments as we go along! I may even be asking for advice further in, when it comes to getting it all cabled up optimally to the mains and the tellies. Notice how we put sockets where the gun turrets were on the plans, 8BB? There will be pocketed shelving to hold the consoles and accessories, desks for old 'puters and other bits n bobs, all courtesy of tomorrows Ikea delivery. So here's day 0, taken a few days ago before we even got the keys, when we measured the window apertures for the blinds. The plaster was still a little moist and there was no carpet fitted!
Time for a long overdue update. Here's one of the freshly built Kallax units from Ikea getting a bit of a mod. 6mm MDF sheets cut to size and a cable pocket hole-sawn into each segment. Screw holes were drilled and countersunk into the MDF and then fastened to the units. One final touch not shown in these pics was to remove the MDF backs and paint them white on the inside to match before reattaching them.
