Your comments would be greatly appreciated, folks, on what exactly this is and who manufactured it? Was it the forerunner of the more widely available, more modern USB version now produced by the likes of Atarimax and Lotharek?
The SIO2PC started out as a do-it-yourself hack, and most people put them in their own project boxes. I made mine myself and originally had it in a project box until I decided to install it inside my 1050. That's probably what we have here.
Atari 800XL, 2x1200XL mobo, 1x1200XL computer:( W/ AtariMax 256/ 512K Rambo, AtariMax 32-in-1 OS, "Gumby" Dual Pokey stereo mod, Super video 2.1 mod, hi-speed SIO mod, full PAL conversion), AtariMax MyIDE 2, SuperSDX w/R-time 8 cart, Happy 1050 W/ 1050toPC and SIO2PC device and com ports, RIX video b.o.b, APE-LINK SIO extender, 1010 tape deck, 1020 plotter, 1030 modem, CX22 trackball, CX77 touch tablet, ST mouse, Wico Command Control and CX40 joystick w/Stikstand.,
It's also quite possible that this is also a 1050toPC box that only allows for writing ATR images onto real floppies (No Atari computer required). Originally you had SIO2PC, 1050toPC and dual boards, like the one I built.
If it doesn't work with A.P.E as an SIO2PC, then plug it into the 1050 and load up Prosystem and see if it recognizes the 1050 (any Drive 1-4). I suggest this because it states it's a disk drive interface, and not SIO2PC. I think it's actually a 1050toPC.
If it is, it's a LOT better way of transferring ATR's back to real floppies or creating ATR's from real floppies, and you can even make accurate back-up clones of copy protected software by copying as .PRO disk images. And the 1050 can be hooked up to the Atari and PC, just like SIO2PC, or just directly to the PC with this box/cable.
8bitbaz: Oh, I'm sure you did, fella. It's my memory again. I d'load these menus but I don't always git chance to go through them all: I must have a bash at these Auras though as they seem to have some cracking bits n bobs onboard. Cheers Brenski & Baker.

Baker: I thought I'd posted his site somewhere before on AS, though at that time some of the Synapse area was still "under construction" and the Electronic Novels weren't there. lots of great stuff from all over the world all categorized by country and publisher

8bitbaz: Some beauties archived-away there, mate. It's like Christmas all over again!

Baker: click on games at the top, then Synapse, then electronic novels. You will still have to get the books and manuals from Atarimania where the uncracked versions are at.

8bitbaz: Cheers, Baker. I will investigate... Many thanks

8bitbaz: Yes, we seem to have hit another spell of the 'great and the good' passing-on, Brenski. That voice of Delores was indeed something else. My Cranberries faves: Zombie, Ridiculous Thoughts and Desperate Andy...can't think why

Baker: Here you go Baz, you still need two drives with both disks in on side 1, when it comes to the password from the book it just shows the hacker's name, no password needed, just continue mrbacardi.000space.com/?i=2

8bitbaz: It's not perfect, this new shoutbox, Fred, ie. the BOLD doesn't really look much bolder than normal type and it seems to be italic by default, but I do prefer it to the original, so well done, Brenski. What do other peeps think?

8bitbaz: Baker - I'm very interested in those electronic novels - please drop me the link, buddy. Tim, you sound "snowed under" with work, mate. Drop in here for some leisure time whenever you can, fella.

8bitbaz: I'm just back from driving through a blizzard in the wilds of Holderness just east of 'Ull. Rum do. Couldn't see a damn thing: white over. Mind, thawing out there now.

timothykline: Thanks, 8bitbaz! Incredibly, I'm still pulling 50-hour work-weeks, so makes it tough to participate, much less fawn over my Atari gear. So, I try to stop by for brief visits to see what I get to miss out on.

Mclaneinc: Yes, a little confusing...

Fred_M: To be honest I think the old shoutbox was much easier to read... What do the other users think?
