An interesting link here to a robot arm feature on Instructables - which got me thinking that I've got a couple of robots stashed away in the airing cupboard - plus the genesis of an article on an Atari 8bit robot called Andy...
I remember Andy, I had an opportunity to get one a few years back, Atari software and all (with Apple on the back side of the disk). I couldn't spring for it at the time. But Radio Shack also made a robot arm, called Armatron, and there was an article in Analog magazine called 'Arming Your Atari' back around '85 that had schematics and a type-in program to hook it up via a joystick port. I still want to do that project some day. IIRC, the article even discussed programming the Atari to play chess using the Armatron, etc.
Now I remember why I was looking for an Andy robot some years back, I had an original Andy disk, with Atari on side A and Commodore on side B. I made a backup, of course, too. I really don't remember how I came by it.
EDIT: I mixed up the threads. I thought I was posting this in the Axlon Andy thread. Close enough I guess.
