ABOVE & BELOW: This Belgian beast (a kind of "wrecked Brexit" Oric - where have we heard that phrase before?) is currently appearing on Feebay screens around the globe as the "vendeur" looks to ease 60 euros out of our mitts, but what on earth would you be getting, exactly?
This Franken-Oric is clearly half Oric-1 (bottom half) and half ATMOS (top proper keyboard)...
ABOVE: What a "cool" idea - increase air flow by gouging a great hole out the bottom of the case... the concept being able to see the two V1.0 and V1.1 ROMs but why does one appear to be missing - has it been sawn out and ejaculated down some dark alley?
Come on, fellas - what on earth is going on here?
What would the two - black and red - buttons top left do - act as switches between the two ROMS?
What about the red LED bored about midway along the upper part of the Atmos - a power LED - why is this needed to deface the case?!
At the rear next to the modulator, far left - what manner of vandalism has taken place there? Is that a DIY blanking plate or B&Q plaster board in there?
Finally, is that an earphone/line out socket to the far right or some power jack input of some kind - and if so, what the hell else in there needs power other than the 9V DC that is fed in anyhow?
Comments, please - is this a "haute couture" job or a hatchet job?
Is that blood on the bottom or some other brown unseemly substance? Either way, it needs wiping, ma'an.
As well as the bottom ripped out the carcass, do we like the way the switches and sockets have been screwed-into the case - who might have been behind this butchery?
I'm confused with ebay these days... I can definitely see the auction if I click on the link, but if I go on either ebay.com or ebay.co.uk and search for "oric" or "oric atmos", or even the complete title "Home Computer: Oric Atmos + tapes (for parts)" I don't see it in the results! What am I doing wrong???
You need to go to the left hand side and click on Worldwide to see this as it's in Belgium.
I have sent a question about it. The ROM should have a sticker over the window. Exposing it to light will wipe it, so it isn't likely to work.
I've seen a number of French adaptations with the switches and sockets in the top of the case like this which I think looks awful. I try and hide things underneath where they can't be seen so easily. I suspect there is a hard and/or cold reset button with audio jack socket on the right.
A mishmash of Atmos and Oric-1 part that are probably trashed.
