was just tidying up my YT channel and gave my latest little mini-video a play thru.
i did this for our family about 3 weeks ago as the tenth anniversary (10 fekkin years) since my dad's passing.
it didn't take along time to create.
some old Irish stock B&W footage, a swirling Irish flag, some animated shamrocks and a mix of some of dad's favourite old Irish folk tunes
...then the nice part: Adding some photos of dad - from when he was a few months old - right up until a few months before he passed. it was really nice (cathartic) for me poring over the old pics, and one or two of the family msgd to say it "made them cry...in a nice way"
A lovely touch to mark a decade since Ed's passing (it's my gran's too: we lost her on Aug 9th, 2008 - my life has been similarly the poorer - so difficult coming to terms with life minus such a senior, awesome, humorous, loving figure - my only consolations being left with a lifetime's wonderful, golden memories, plus suddenly meeting Bev a month later... incredibly, gran and Bev had both nursed together at the same hospital...but never knew one another, yet quite a coincidence... and the event that brought us together? We met thanks to the registration of a classic car I bought with the money...left to me by... you guessed it, my grandma... they do say 'he' works in mysterious ways, fellas...)
Further reflections - Jeez, I won't be the only one to have commented that both you and Daniel are the absolute spit of your dad - incredibly so - virtual doubles, Mart.
He will be having a little chuckle to himself with his buddies 'up there' right now, mate.
You've done him proud.
A wonderful touch melding your video-making talents with the love of your family.
Finally, I think a lot of us on here will be having a bit of a tear, recalling those whom we have loved...and lost... but like you say, in a nice way, matey.
