If there was one game on the PC that used to get me and my mate Fast Eddie blasting away until the small hours, it was Castle Wolfenstein's great plots, atmospheric graphics and sonics...
Here's the history, via You Tube, from humble Atari 8bit origins in 1981 (incredibly simple 2D arcade adventure), through 1992s release of (pixellated MS DOS fave) Wolfenstein 3D to the latter late 90s and 2000s releases of the uber awesome Return to Castle Wolfenstein 3D FPS we all know (and some loved...)
Apologies, Jaguar fans - I'm totally in the dark regarding your back catalogue of great titles, too. Please do me the honours of reviewing that release too, Baker - in fact, a top 5/10 of Jaguar releases (or FPS titles, if you like) would be a nice thread and you never know... You might get some of us guys converted over to that format!
You still should! There are a lot of really fantastic games on the system, the true first 64-bit game system, the last Atari made machine. Unfortunately prices for the system are incredibly high these days, compared to even a few short years ago. And even though it's my favorite console of all time, I'm even thinking about selling out my collection, as I could buy everything I ever wanted for the Atari 8-bits with the proceeds. I could actually get a couple thousand dollars for my collection, and it is moderate in size.
