So what to do on a rainy day in the six weeks holidays but mod an old mega drive controller to work on the Vectrex. I am rather pleased with myself because although not the most technical mod I have done, it was challenging because there was not a lot of info on the web and the info that was there was a bit conflicting or confusing.
Anyway here she is, working perfectly on my Vectrex. I can now two player as well as get a rather decent score on Scramble (it's a lot more accurate than the Vectrex original). Next I am going to mod an old Master System light phaser to use on the light gun Vectrex games. Thanks to 8bitbaz for providing the perfect DB9 adapter to mod with the jossie trade !
Two thumbs up! I use a Genesis controller as an alternate for some games on my Atari 8-bit (especially Space Harrier), but of course no modification is needed if all you want is control and one button, like a standard CX40. But, back in the 90's I too, modified a Genesis controller to work on all the two button games for the Atari 7800 as well! it of course still worked on all other compatible one but games and systems. I also once had a MAAS arcade stick (laptop wood cabinet) that I made for my Atari Jaguar, and later added support for all Atari systems including the 7800, excluding the 5200.
